How much DCA??

Greetings all. How many DCA units should my '94 have in the coolant? Bought some Fleetguard DCA from an International dealer and he is telling me 4 units per gallon of coolant. That's almost 5 bottles of DCA for the truck. My last IDI I bought the FORD coolant additive and they said three quarters of a bottle. What gives? I don't want any block rot for sure but I also don't want to sock 30 bux worth of DCA into my radiator needlessly. What's your opinion? Many thanks-----Gulfeagle.

On the Fleetguard test strips you want the level to be between 1.5 and 3.0. More can damage water pump seals I've heard and less isn't enough protection. I guess the size of the bottle would be a factor. I would imagine a couple of pints or so in a fresh charge of antifreeze would be close but you really need the strips to be sure.

Thanks troutwest. The strips I have. I just need a place to start. There must be some unit specs out there somewhere. I don't want to go through half a dozen strips till I get it right. Thanks for the reply.

2 bottles for 8 gallons of coolant. Yeah, ford is retarded, 3/4 of a bottle won't do you any good.
