How do I get my tailgate open?

I just got rid of a camper I've had on the truck for years. I put the tailgate back on the truck, and it's stuck in the closed position! ***? I put some Kroil on anything that looked like it was supposed to move, but couldn't see too well. Do you guys have any ideas how I might get this thing unstuck? Thanks for any help!

Does it seem like anything wants to move when you lift up on the handle? Sounds like something is just seized up on ya or if it is closed and wont open it maybe that one of the linkage's is off of the handle. Take the tailgate backing off and look at it if you haven't already.

like he said, unscrew the access lid and look at the linkage. If you just need to drop it down you can sneak a screwdriver into the hasp on each side and pop it open
