Help me ID this thingamajigger

Poking around on my passenger side fender well to make room for my FPHE and re-route some fuel hosing etc.

I'm going to move my GP relay and some other things to the sidewall a bit and I came across this curious gold colored can attached to the hot side of my starter selenoid the other side of it goes to a breaker also circled but the other side of the breaker is not connected to anything.

What the flock is this thing? I want to remove and toss it and the breaker.

well the "big gold can" attached to the auto e-setting breaker is an old school very old school selenoid perhaps it was installed for a gp circuit or some accessory you do not currently have by a previous owner. or depending on how it is wired i have wired up circuits to charge travel trailer batteries but they where only connected to the tow vehicle while the tow vehicle was running via a run position signal run from the starter selenoid to the charging selenoid i had added in. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO SHOW THIS REDNECK HOW TO ADD ATTACHMENTS SO I CAN SHOW DIAGRAMS

My truck has some parts like that under the hood too. They don't seem to do anything, but I suspect it was for the 5th wheel setup that it had by the PO.

I've been going through every now and then and eliminating things here and there. This truck had at some point had a camper in it I can tell by the old bed's cut outs and there was some serious wiring going into it before I exorcised it.

I'm about to run some 12v to the bed to run my transfer pump I was wondering if I should put in a breaker between it and the battery + what do you folks think?

Original pic is a constant duty solenoid.

You absolutely want to run a circuit breaker between the transfer pump and battery. Keep the circuit breaker as close to the power source as possible.

that is an old school selenoid for agrculture equipment which is why it is single pole + only perhaps an old 12-24v selenoid for the old 24v staring system and all other electronics where 12v

Did the 6.9 IHCs come with 24v systems? I thought that our trucks have always been parallel?

I use that exact relay/solenoid to run power to my rv battery to charge it, very trouble free. I would clean up the wiring a bit and use it as a power switch to your bed tank with a toggle on the dash, that way you can kill the power so someone doesnt steal your fuel, you are going to need a 50 amp breaker for that pump IIRC.

Hey all the people I met in canada on our trip 2 years ago were very nice and helpful, I rebuilt my **** leece neville alternator in an electric shop in lethbridge and the guy wouldnt take any money except for parts.. They were busy and he just asked what I did for a living and then took me to the shop and said "theres the tools, parts are on that rack". Just like southern hospitality, HEEEEEYYY maybe there are rednecks in canada.
