Help finding drop pitman arm please

So I was one pay check away from ordering a small body lift to fit my 35's nicely.. I know know.. Anyways went to the junk yard today to pull a brake booster cuz mines never worked, found my same truck and it had a 6" sky jacker lift on it! Score! I'm getting all the leaf packs, longer shocks, the drop bracket thing for the ttb and the braided steel brake lines for about $150..the problem is is it looks like the drop pitman arm isn't long enough.. All I know is the steering was on a hard angle.. I had a bronco a while ago with a 6" lift, and the same problem, I bought one of those universal drop pitman arms that said it was for a 4-6" lift, it was the same I already had on mine so I returned it cuz everything was still at a hard angle, i had horrible bump steer! This sky jacker kit actually looks the same as what was on my bronco.. I found one online that says it's for a 6-8" lift but it's $200! Whats up with all these pit man arms that range from 2-6" do they really work for a 6" lift?? I don't wanna go back to the horrible steering my bronco had, it was absolutely terrifying on the freeway! Sorry for the long winded post, thanks guys

IIRC, Superlift makes the correct length of drop/angled arm. Drop pitmans are never cheap, unless they don't really correct steering angles.

Ha ya i was like I can't find anything on super lift.. But see that's still the problem, they offer 3,
1 for $50 that says it can do do 2.5"-6"
1 for $100 that says it dies 4"-6"
And 1 for $200 that does 6"-8"
So of course I want the cheap one but I feel like it wouldn't do its job, or it would poorly, i feel like the 1st and 2nd one are basically the same thing, and probably the same as whats on the truck now

Also both the smaller ones have the same reviews copied over and no one says what lift they have.. For $200 I'd rather take the one I have down to my buddies welding shop and just have it lengthen.. By the way thanks for the help

You don't want to weld up a pitman arm. Terrible idea.

I have used ProComp and TuffCountry on 4" and 6" lifts with no issues. Never did 6" on a TTB truck though. If you're having bump steer and can't get the tie rods close to factory angles it sounds like time for a D60. Just match track bar angle to drag link angle and no more bump steer. If you go king pin you can do high steer too.

DO NOT WELD UP A PITMAN ARM.
no reason to sacrifice someone elses life for a 200 dollar part.
these are cast iron, and any welding on it will be weaker than the cast.
buy the correct part, this is one piece you do not want to go cheap on...

if you want cheap, go buy a toyota.

And like I said, drop pitmans aren't cheap. They are, however, worth what you have to shell out for one. The tie rod end mounting surface is also angled correctly for the increased length.

Do some searching on fullsizebronco.com it's been covered there quute a bit.

SAVE the 150 + 200 bucks and dont buy the lift then.

That has to be pretty lame to whine about fixing sterring correctly. If thus truck is driven on public roads then 200 is cheap for your life...lives of friends...or others....

MAN UP NUT UP SPEND THE DOUGH do it up right or dont do it at all.

BTW lifting any TTB entails a modecum of pathetic steering afterwards unless you switch out to a super runner style steering system.

How about flippin a KP 60 in there...bam...add a high steer ARM with a cross over and bobs yer uncle

Again stop the whining and bellyaching about the pitman arm price...yer lift is breaking down to about less n 20 bucks a piece!....ya let yer head mull that over.

Welding a pitman arm is about as smart as cutting a ****** tip off and gluing a new one on to shorten it to fit better...

Lol! To funny! Ok ok, your right i was whining.. Ive been buying alot of crap lately heading out to get a dirt bike now, just means I'll have to hold onto this lift for a few weeks to save up to buy the right part before I install it which is fine.. I didn't realize welding it would be so bad, I definatly won't be doing that.. Thanks for the help guys, can't wait to get everything put on! Working a gig in Sundance at the end of the month, gonna be getting some 36" tires and the correct pitman arm with the money
