Yesterday I changed the oil and filter on my '93. While I was under there, I decided to lube the front end as well... but I cannot get the grease gun on the pitman arm fitting! I tried turning the wheels right and left, and the tie rod is still in the way.
Did Ford really design this so I have to pop a tapered joint off just to grease one fitting? Or are they all "sealed for life" (ya, the life of the part) now?

Haha yea stuff like that always happens when I try and do preventive maintenance. That’s why all I do is oil and filter, air filter and trans fluid/filter every few tears. The rest gets neglected untill something breaks.

You can change the grease fitting to on that bends 90 degrees so you can get the grease gun fitting on.

Just to be specific here, the pitman arm doesn't have a grease fitting. There's no need since it has no moving parts. The fitting is on the tie rod end. Like Dave said, I changed mine to a 90* fitting and now can access it easily.

Not greasing just to wear parts prematurely is just wasting money my guy.
Yes they make angled zerk fittings for like a dollar and about a minute to install.

Just wondering what axle are people having this problem with? My last two trucks have had kingpin D60s in front and I never had an issue accessing any of the zerks.

And since we're talking zerk fittings I sure do like the LubeLocker attachment for easily grabbing on to zerks.
