curious if there is any ill effects of putting the glow plug controller in the cab.
seems to be the best spot to put it in my application.
the MANchero build.

I don't see why not. if anything it would stay cleaner since it wouldn't get wet. there would just be a few extra wires going in the cab. the clicking would be a little bit louder.

I would say go for it.

Remember about the heat generated.
Other than that none I see....shy of voltage loss.

i think it would be pretty slick... mount it to the fire wall or similar place. wouldnt take much to run the wires. plus it would be away from the heat and moisture like no mufflers mentioned. if you do it right the wires wouldnt be much longer than they are in stock location

I'd mount it on top of the dash, below the review mirror. Easier to trouble shoot down the road.

Do like I did mine and put an Anderson style connector in the firewall orca nice mil heavy duty D.C. Twist lock so it just plugs in. Could be really slick. I ran 2 strands of 6 awg I think for mine and it works great. I have too much wire actually. Need to trim it up some but that's in the details right now.

I don't see anything wrong with putting the controller in the cab.

However, I've learned from direct experience that the wires going between the controller and the glow plugs need to be at a specific resistance. If it isn't, the controller will only cycle the glow plugs briefly...ever since this, I've been cycling the key on and off to get the glow plugs to cycle (I simply haven't had time to try installing a "proper" 7.3L glow plug wiring harness).

Here's a thread from way back when when I tried to make a custom harness for my glow plug system and learned just how sensitive the controller is to resistance in the line...

If you can do it without modifying the wires to each bank of glow plugs, you should be golden ;Sweet otherwise, I would be very careful to make sure that resistance readings are identical to the factory wires.

Manual controller button solves that, however it is way nicer to just turn a key and have it done for you lol mines wired so the glow plug light comes on and off still
