GOT BIG PROBLEMS!!! NEED HELP PLEASE!

Ok i got some new injectors from typ4, i put them in and a return kit, fired it up and it seemed to be running like it was suppose to, but it was still blowing that damn blue smoke! and every once in a while it would so something funny like it missed or something it would make a thudthudthud sound out of the exaust every now and then, well after it run for a minute the smoke seemed to go away and the thud thud went away, i reved it up and it smoked normal for a cols diesel well let it set and get warmer, and all at once smoke seems to come back but engine still runs good no thud thud this time, rev it up and it smokes a bunch this time and my gran pa said he thought it smelled like oil but here something strange the hole time i been messing with this truck the oil level hasnt changed, the oil dont smell like fuel and its not too thin,

Im just lost and not sure what to do, the truck set for a long time, it set 8 months and wasnt ever turned over total it set for over a year, it fired right up with a little squirt of either when i first cranked it, the guy said it had a rebuilt ip and he said it was rebuilt by a diesel mechanic he knew real good which worries me because were he lives there aint no such thing as an injection pump shop, could the ip cause my problems im having?

Check the timing, and don't panic. Put some miles on her, and see how she does. Get a fresh tank of fuel and double dose it with some Stanadyne fuel additive. You know when folks say they did the pump and don't produce a receipt, well.........

Well i would check the timing but i cant i dont have a meter, i have it timed to were it sounds good its a little advanced but it sound pretty good, i put 2 gallons of fresh fuel not to long ago and put 2 full bottles of diesel kleen in it, im just so lost on what to do seems like everything i do it just dont work

Well, think about it. The injectors are fresh and balanced, and that means that the pop off pressures are higher now than before. And you know that pop off pressures affect the timing of the engine. The timing got affected by you putting the good injectors in, and since you are doing it by feel, you don't know if you have gone too far or not far enough. Unless you get a light on that motor, and really know where your at, it's not going to run its best. She needs to be timed, and a full tank of fuel. Be easy on her for a few miles and let everything settle in.

i been thinking about changing the oil and getting some kinda oil treatment in it, but im about to just get fed up and jerk that engine out and put head gaskets in my other engine and set it down in it but i just cant make my mind up

diesels, as a general rule of thumb, dont like to sit. Mine ran exactly as your describing when I first bought it ( it had sat long enough in the florida heat to grow stuff on the dash). I drove the dog sh$t out of it for a week or so and then rechecked all the fluids and changed out all the filters (put in all new everything before I even fired it for the first time). It cleared up on its own, my motor is worn out ( as I know now) but it will still run and drive, just slow.

if your worried about it, do a compression test and post the first bump, what the fifth bump brings it too, and repeat the whole process. If you have new injectors, good compression, and can get it timed then you will have narrowed it down a lot.

Im going to put tags and insurance on it, change the oil put something in there engine restorer or shomething then just drive the hell out of it and if it blows then fine i will be doing an engine swap but if it dont then thats fine too, well i might change the ip too

If its smoking blue constantly your timing needs advanced a bit. When I put new injectors in my truck is was smoking blue constantly until I advanced the timing a bit.

Thats one of the first things i done was advance the timing it sounds plenty advanced maybe a little to much its kinda got a psd rattle to it but not to bad

Blueish/grey, It turns black if i hold my foot on the brake and lug it in 2nd real hard

I think it goes like this, higher popoff pressure-retards the timing (takes slightly longer to fire), lower pop off pressure-advances the timing (takes less time to fire).

Could some Auto Rx be in your future? Clean that old girl out and get her timed.

Check the injectors to make sure they're sealed to the head. Spray some penetrating oil on the injector threads while the engine is running. If You see any bubbles, the injector is not sealed.

You really need to get that truck timed propertly before you start to panic. Take it to somebody who has a meter and knows how to use it. If the pump has a timing problem, which is possible, it will probably show up on the meter. I'd also install a road draft tube and block off the CDR openings, as the blow by will tell you things when you can see it. Doing that will also end the oil ingestion which may well be the cause of your blue smoke.

UPDATE!

Well today i cranked it back up here come the bluish white smoke again, and every once in awhile i would here the thudthudthud, well when the temp got to about 140ish the thud went away and the smoke at idle went away, only smoked when i reved it up or when i mashed on it going down the road, it holds 15 psi of oil pressure idling warm, and 35ish going down the road, so i went to napa the only parts store without having to drive 20 miles and i bought 3 gallons of oil and a oil filter and a fuel filter and a quart of atf, changed the fuel filter and filed it with atf cranked it up let it idle for 30 sec no smoke o well, shut it off drained the oil(auto rx is in my near future) pulled the filter and its got alot of sludge in it well i put new filter on filled it up with oil and started it no oil leaks ran great no smoke so maybe she getting better i hope, im thinking of advancing the timing more, my buddy came by and i got to listenin to his truck and his rattles more so im going to advance mine a little more and see what happens
