so i went to start my truck and not much happened. it cranked and all but no fire. so after thinking of what i have read here before let the glow plug light cycle a few times and it fired. After some research i found that my little element thingy in the fuel filter housing, i think its a fuel heater? is broken and not grounded or attached. Could this be the problem or is it my glow plugs? With the block heater on it fires right up
How hard is it to replace the fuel heater in the filter housing? Where would you get that besides the stealership?
Once its been running and is warm etc even 6 hours later in freezing clod weather it fires right up.
In the thread below mike suggests this "Getting any white smoke when cranking? Might be the fuel heater shorted out and burned the fuse and disabled the IDM."
