Glow Plug under factory turbo and cleaning the threads

I replaced the autolites from the PO with a spare set of ZD9's. All went well except for the ****** under the turbo. It was only half threaded in to start with and I could only get the replacement about the same.

I'm thinking that I need to pull the turbo so I can get a tap in there and clean the threads but I'm open to alternatives.

Questions:
1) what size tap am I going to need?
2) what do I need for gaskets/seals/parts if pulling the turbo is the only way to go?
3) what else am I going to run into that would be handy to know?

I can answer #1. The threads on the GP are metric, 10mm x 1mm pitch. The hex on the GP for installation is 3/8". Go figure.

Are ya sure that hex is not actually 10MM just curious...

I use my metric socket set when changing gp's (10 mm with the swivel.) Sounds like you might have a broken tip in there hanging up the works ? Did the plug you pulled out have muggled up threads??

Threads looked OK to me. If there's a tip in there I'll have to pull the head. Don't think I like that option. I could crank it with the plug out I guess.
