My girl wants an idi now. She likes the obs fords and likes the sound of mine. I have had 4 now, so she figures she wants one. She obviously wants a decent looking one, so interior and exterior should be pretty clean. I can always repair the interior and exterior if need be. it can be a project. She doesn't know about trucks, she just wants to be like me. Auto or manual is fine. She likes 70's trucks too. Im asking if i should get a gasser and swap or if i should buy an original idi. Obviously if its before 83 it will need to be swapped but what is cheapest. I kinda want her to have the 83-87 series. Love that body style. What do you think. I know i can get interior and exterior parts fixed, but what is my best bet. Thanks guys

It's a lil dirty bit there is now rust and good interior. Just needs windshield and ignition switch. Maybe injectors or ip work but it will start and run. I am looking to sale or trade. I've spent over $500 in two weeks. New bell housing, t case, pads, rotors, spindles and bearings. Also new clutch, slave cylinder and clutch fork. Also two yr old tires and one brand new tire. Recent o change with filter. Brand new fuel filter.

It runs pretty good. It just has some misfire. I was hoping for like $1700 or so. I don't see why it wouldn't make it. I drove it from Florida with no problems. It does need a ignition switch it froze up and wouldn't come out. I tried for two hrs. So now I use a screw driver.

No rust on the outside! Spent twenty four yrs in Florida. Only one Indiana winter with not much road time. Very very little rust on the inside of the door jam.

why is that hammerdown? :)
Hmmm lets see...
1) do you want her to continue to be your GF?
2) do you really want to wrench on an old truck?
3) price of the stinky-a$$ fuel > of course you'll hear about that > and get to fill it up.:puke:
4) these "old" trucks need to be in the hands of people that can continually baby and work on them....they're like senior citizens.
Do I really need to say anymore? ;Really
Buy her a nice latter year F150 gaser, you'll be waaaay ahead of the game.

I've owned my truck since new, it's a cream-puff, still looks new/kinda (ask Mel)...amazingly it's been very reliable but, I'm was always on it.
It's still 23 years old and like an old man, requires constant attention. ;Really
Some people gotta learn the hard way ;Really

All due respects...
"it's perfect"...and..."it's mint"...and...it's in"cherry condition". Then when you see it...you get > "well, what do you expect for a 25+ year old truck"
Peoples perception of "perfect" can be very broad.
Wish I had a dollar for every vehicle, boat, Harley, Vette where the owner told me the above. ;Really
