FUMES!!

Man there starting to kill me. When I stop at a stop light I can smell it real bad, exhaust fumes. I had a guy from my work driving behind me and he was saying it almost makes him tear up cause there bad. What is causing this, or is it perfectly normal?

My current IDI and last one will do this when my oil level is anything over the add mark.

Are you talking like exhaust fumes? I get them once in a while when sitting at a stop light, it was worse before I had my exhaust extended back to its original spot in the rear.
This is one of the reasons why I drive a diesel, because I love the smell of diesel exhaust. It's just about the finest smell in the world!

maybe its just normal with this truck. I love the smell of a diesel, this smell just isnt something I normally have smelt in a diesel truck. Ill check for an exhaust leak or something.

my truck had the eye burning nose twitching rich exhaust, I adjusted my timing and it cleared up a LITTLE, replaced my injectors and IP and my truck doesnt burn rich like that anymore

X2 Both of my trucks damned near killed me when they leaked.

fuel leak or air intrusion can make er smoke, exhaust leak, hows the blowby?

if the fuel is turned up or filter restricted she'll smoke more too. also make sure it isn't coolant i.e. heatercore or similar. most non-diesel people wont like diesel smell at first so he might just not like your exhaust while you smell coolant

No visible leaks on the motor. The blowby is ok, there is hardly any. Im not getting any excessive smoke, actually it dont smoke a drop!

My truck was doing this same thing a couple weeks ago... It turned out to be a fuel leak on the bottom of the water separator below the fuel filter. It was leaking and dripping but missing anything in the engine bay so it left no trail. once I found it I was much happier, and back to driving my truck every chance I get.
