Fuel tank selector routing, help!

Hello. I just looked under my truck and found that the P/o has removed the fuel selector valve from the fuel lines and just capped the nipples. The truck can only run on the rear tank now, as he hard piped it in. So, I have the front tank with just the fittings hanging and fuel selector valve sitting by itself.

Can anyone tell me how I go about finding which line is which, and to what nipples I would connect to the fuel selector valve!

Maby I should just remove the front tank and assembly? Anyone done this, and IF so, did you miss it?

I would try hooking up the selector valve to the wiring harness and testing whether it actually still works. Could be bad, and that's why the PO removed it. Easiest way to test is to run some two foot pieces of hose to the engine-side ports, blow through them, and feel for air at the tank-side ports. The smaller ports are the returns, test them too. If it switches ok and doesn't seem to leak between the front and back tank ports, give it a shot. Otherwise, unless you want to run alternate fuels, you won't really miss a tank and I would drop it. It's 100 lbs you wouldn't need then, but watch out if it isn't fully empty when removing. I removed mine thinking it was empty like my gauge said, but it was half full! Having that fall on me was not fun.
