Fuel Tank Fill Modifications

I went looking for the posting on how t fix the fill pipes on our trucks but found nothing in the tech dept. Anyone know where it is???

look up "harpooning" the tanks
basically the rollover valve is removed and a hose is run from the vent hole and a tube is brazed into the neck for the hose. need a visual? take a look at your chevy.
if you want a pair of filler necks to play with, i have a pair I can send down or if you can wait for the BBQ in Aug, you can pick it up then.

Gary, I've modified my filler necks and I wish I would have shown you what was done at the rally. I can use the "big rig" nozzle and pumps. They will fill an empty tank in less than one minute and not spill a drop! No BS!

I have the photo's and spec's to do an article.......... I should put it together give it to Mel for review.........one of these days.

The small black canister near the filler neck is the new home for the rollover valve. Dad fab'ed them up for me. The use the tank gromet and the valve goes in there. The little hose goes to the valve from the "new" tank vent.

What about the large hose? Where does that go to and would that leak out during a rollover?

Sorry for all the Q's, but I cant see very good up by the opening.

The large hose goes from the large vent now in the top of the tank to a much larger vent at the top of the filler neck itself. Thank is what vents the tank and makes the tanks fill quickly with much less foaming. The roll-over valve is a DOT requirment and I have keep it on the truck for that reason. But, fuel will flow from the filler neck in the event the truck is upside down. Fuel will flow from the stock set up as well, but the valve is supposed to prevent the tank from venting and thus slow the flow down. Think of it like a fuel can you use to fill your mower. With it's vent open, the fuel flows much faster, with it closed, the fuel still flows but with less volume/speed.
