fuel problems

i believe that im having fuel problems now with my 1985 f250 diesel and just wanting to know what should i look for and is there a way of checking to see if fuel is getting to the motor

A little more information is needed to offer help. If I were to guess and suggest something. I would suggest you place a pressure gauge on the filter head shrader valve. Then get the engine running and see what the pressure is. But its only a guess from what you have tried to ask. Everyone can help if you explain more symptoms.

well the truck wont start unless you spary starting fulid in it and the glow plugs are good the relay and controller are good so that the only thin that is left that i believe is wrong with it but i do not know much about diesel that why im asking questions'

If you have it running and then shut it off, do you have to use stating fluid? If it starts ok after it's been running, you may have a fuel bleed back problem. Also, check to make sure that you are actually getting power to the glow plugs. You could have a bad wire or connection somewhere.

well i just got the glow plug relay and controller set up the right way so i have to find out when im by the truck again but how will i check the wires going to the glow plugs and thanks and how would you fix a fuel bleed back

I would go with glowplugs, if it runs fine otherwise.
Could be air intrusion as idibronco said, if it runs rough.

Usually Injector orings or fuel line olives. You can search here for more info.

Using search for air intrusion is great we have litterally 100's of threads on the topic.

Search a d read FAQ section too and all thos stickies in grey at top of list...also tech articles...there are tons of threads and plenty of information so you can learn amd ask informed questions
