Check the damn fuse. Then check the voltages at the TPS on the go peddle.

OK...I was thinkin that. I am gonna probe around in the mornin with my new multimeter. Is it actually called a pedal position sensor and can I maybe get it at Napa? I wanna avoid the dealer at all costs...after the rude price quote I got there the other day for some clutch pedal bushings...crooks I tell ya...

Yes, you can get it from napa, but I recommend getting it from Ford.

Gmornin! I just went out with my multimeter and the plug for the idle switch doesnt have any resistance. I took the plug off the TPS and 2 of the 3 prongs were good, but the 3rd one was jumping all over from 2-5V. This is while the engine is running and so plugged it back in n still nothing. I am thinkin that since I bypassed the TPS on the go pedal then its gotta be somethin else right??

I was also told today that it could be something with the throttle body?? Doesnt make alotta sense to me. I got my new TPS...damn thing is a different part...plug wont fit...
I also unhooked the + side of the batteries for about 10 mins hoping to reset somethin but that didnt do anything either. What is the fuse I am supposed to be looking at??

Diesels don't have throttle bodies like gassers. That's why gas engines have better engine braking than diesels. They actually have a restriction to the airflow when you let off the throttle.

Yep, thats what I thought. Well I got the right TPS and put it in n still nothing...I am kinda at a loss now...

Chris go up to the Powerstroke forum and follow the link in the "BAZ page" topic. It is loaded with tons of basic and technical PS info, it even explains the 10k mod I was telling you about so you can see if that was the cause of your original agressive throttle issue.

This is in response to a phone call Chris and I had earlier this evening, just so no one wonders where I am coming up with this conversation.

I appreciate that info! I will have a browse there and see what I can determine. I didnt go outside to check it out yet, gonna do that in the mornin as the wind came up here with -5C makin if feel like -20...n no shop to work in YET...

I just checked both sensors for resistance, results as follows using the 20K ohm setting - the idle switch shows nothing tested both ways (swapped leads and button on/off) and the TPS top spade shows a constant 3.98, the middle one shows 3.65 at idle and 1.2 at WOT with a steady decline as I depressed the pedal. I used the bottom one as a ground as out of the 3 wires coming from the plug, the top 2 are grey and the bottom one is black. Can anyone tell me if these 2 sensors seem to be functioning properly?

It appears the idle button switch is bad. Did you try using a jumper wire as we talked about last night?

Nope, just gonna do that now. I just talked to a performance shop about an hour from here and they said that I could try that, but they have seen a couple lately with PCM issues so hopefully its somethin simple like this...

Nothin........tried with jumper wire in and out....

The performance shop said to try unpluggin the batteries for about an hour to reset anything and maybe that will do it....I dunno, this is getting frustrating...

FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started pullin fuses and checked every one of em too see if any were burnt. I took one fuse out the other day that said "Not Used" (#3 position) to use for my temp gauge ign point. Well I put that fuse back in just now and I'll be damned...now it works fine!!!

So what exactly does this #3 fuse do that is labelled as not used???

Ohh, and the jumper wire is still in so I think I will just leave it as is...
