My advice, if anything too serious is messed up in that dana 50 TTB setup. Rip it all out and put a dana 60 straight axle in it.

Before I'd do that, I'd total the truck out and go buy a gasser. It would appear that a lot of guys on here have the time, $$, and motivation to really tinker with their trucks and do stuff like that. I don't. This is my daily driver, and it hauls firewood to heat the house. If it weren't for the firewood, I would have bought a used car instead of a truck. I don't have the time to FIND a dana 60 to put in, let alone the time to actually install it. Same pretty much goes for the money too. Don't get me wrong, I really like this truck, and the diesel engine. It's just a mater of function over form. I don't haul stuff for a living, and I'm not a kid any more, so doing things like swaping axels just isn't an option for me. The only option is to repair what's broken, and get it back on the road.

Its going to cost you a pretty penny to have this done.

If your mechanically inclined its a pain, but simple to do.

Your truck is a 250. so its gonna be TTB. Meaning there is no differential cover to just "pull off and spray the gears off."

The hubs, bearings, spindles, and shafts must come out, leaf springs unbolted, and one side dropped down eoungh to unbolt the 3rd member and drop it out.
Then the new seal can be pressed out and new back in.
