Front Filler Neck Plugged?

Hello!

Newer IDI owner here, always wanted an OBS F250 but a 1991 F350 recently fell into my lap so that's that!

Anyway, the front tank won't hardly take fuel. It acts like it is 95% blocked/plugged. When I tried to put fuel in it it clicked off almost immediately but the fuel that was full up to the opening did drain into the tank and didn't leak out. Any recommendations on inspecting & clearing the filler neck?

It's not the filler neck that's plugged, more than likely the vent on top of the tank is plugged, bugs, spiders like to make nests in there. The tank has a rollover valve on it with a rubber hose fastened up there.
Welcome to the OB.
Before you do anything or buying parts on your new/old truck, always ASK on here, lots of info. Will save you alot of bucks and headaches.

The above posting by Bill is so correct. We have the information that will save you hours of wated time and lots of foolish money spent on things that wont or can't work. You have a fill neck issue that we all have to some degree. Look into the fill neck. See the metal washer thingy thats chocking down the neck like the unleaded gas nozzles on gas cars have. Well at the top of the washer is where the air vents out of the tank. Its a tiny cut about the sive of a straight screwdriver blade. Well its too damn small so make it bigger anyway you can. Please don't use a torch on it Diesel wil burn when it gets hot enough. What the fill necks are is two tubes. The one your looking down is the fuel side. The larger outside part is the air vent. We also have the rollover valve on top of the tanks with the 1/4 inch rubber hose running to the frame rail. Butg make nests in the ends of those sometimes. Pull it off and look it over but don't remove it from the tank top. Well you can on the front tank because you can actually see it on top of the tanks. But the rear is a horrible tank to work on for this. Look up the post called harpooning the fuel tanks. Its agreat way to fix this slow fueling problems. A hearty welcome to the forum too.

On another note, take a large thick board or two with you to the fuel station, pull up somewhat close, place the boards on the ground then drive up on the boards tilting your truck higher on the fill side this may help, it did for me for the short burn!

you're a sneaky one ain't ya? going to try this at the pump before my little towing expedition today.

Lifting the fill side of the truck really does help when fueling the trucks. Only problem is somrtimes we forget to put the block back inside and just drive off . So buy a 4x4x8 so you have some extra material... Just in case you drive off leaving your block...

Wow, I think that's over kill I just drove up on a big ass rough cut 4x4 but ***, if it works for ya sweet!

Thats a nice tire ramp. Reminds me of the trailer tire changing ramps for the rv trailers. I cut one just like yours to change me horse trailer tires because the goodyear marathon special trailer tires were throwing thread faster than the wife when shes angry at you for most anything.

Well once I get my newer problem, the water in my oil, fixed, I'll revisit my fuel tank!
