For the members who have done the headlight relay modifications???

This is a very good idea. It takes the heavy load off the head light switch. Some trucks have burned to the ground because this engineering problem ford knew about. They even sell a repair multi plug that melts behind the switch. So its a no brainer really. It may or may not brighten you head lights. It all depends on the condition of our **** poor plastic lense that turns yellow over time. Mine are shot and no matter what I do they stay yellow. Time to something different I guess.

The headlight lenses I have currently in my truck are about 1.5 yrs old so are the bulbs. The bulbs are the super bright Silvia bulbs from vatozone. Hopefully it will make a difference. I'll report back with before and after pics if I get the modification done.

Nope, your mind is still good - AlienTurtle did the article in question IIRC, and he used some coating for wooden decks or something to protect against UVs.

Really if for no other reason do it to take the load off the switch. Lots of trucks have burnt down because of that headlight switch.

Well I bought my stuff at auto zone mainly because I forgot about Napa but they didn't carry the relays i needed so I went to Napa and bout the 2 relays and pigtails and if I remmber correct it was 50 bucks or almost 50

I used OMC ignition circuit relays, I got them cheap ($3 each) and they are rated for 50 amps, 3/8" spade though, so you gotta find the right connectors...
I had to buy one for my previous (I almost said old, but it was a 2000 ) boat motor, and saw the price (guy was closing up his boat shop) so I got extras
new plastic headlight pigtails, pulled the wires and replaced with 10ga before I put them in
wire on hand, so I think I'm about $15 into mine, last truck was right about $30 with the headlight relays from O-really's (cheapo $6 each)

Not to resurrect an old thread, but I have been going through lots of the headlight relay discussions looking for a specific answer. Riotwarrior mentioned earlier in this thread to get the factory plugs and build a harness but I am unsure of what factory plugs to buy and where. I have a '94 F-350 with a 7.3 IDI and want to relay the headlights and marker lights to take the majority of the load off the light switch. I understand the basic wiring concept, but I do want a tidy looking harness when it's all done. So the specific questions I haven't been able to answer through searching is 1) What factory plugs am I going to need to add in the headlight and marker light DIY harness, 2) Would buying an auxiliary fuseblock with integrated relay be an easy way to handle the marker light and relay addition? Specifically CirKit Boss 3 Circuit Fuse Block. And thanks to those who have been documenting and giving assistance, those like me highly appreciate your efforts.

I ordered mine from LMC truck, plus I ordered 2 extra relays, because I've heard they are the only place you can find those style relays. Cost me 50 bucks to my door

It's the same kit, from both places. LMC is just a little more expensive (after shipping). And the kits use Bosch type relays don't they? $5 from any parts store.

EDIT: I see now that they are indeed different. I'll be cutting mine off and replacing them with Bosch-type relays and matching plugs.

Click on the LMC catalog page to get a larger/clear image of their harness. It's the same thing but looks like a black protective shealth on the wores instead of yellow. Same relays as well. The JBG one is a little cheaper for me after shipping since they'll ship it in a yellow envelope for $6.10 ($38.10 total) and LMC always overcharges for shipping, $10.something ($40.70 total). Not a lot but $2 is $2!
