ive had this tank in for almost 2 years.
one would think everything was golden, right?
well.
it wasn't. lol
cruising down the street today, my ********* fuel tank fell out!
thankfully I was able to pull over and create a make shift fix for it.
a couple of hours prior, I had just filled up.
it couldn't have happened with less than a 1/4 tank.

the moral of this story..
NUT AND BOLT CHECK EVERYTHING.
don't assume its ok...
I have been doing this, but only on the axles and drivetrain...
well this bit me in the 10.25

**** that could have been bad with sparks n all. Although not as combustible as gasoline, once diesel lights up, it burns hot and hard to put out.

Now see,living in the northern states has it's perks.Had you been in Maine,those nuts would of been rusted shut by now,and you couldn't turn them off if you wanted.

that looks like your average 6/7 yr old truck here in SW Ontario. gas tank straps rot off all the time. I keep a smaller ratchet strap in the console for just such an occasion

I never use lockwashers on anything on the road. nylock or stovers only. Truck/coach mechanic since the late 80's = learned behaviour............sh*t rattles loose ! that's why we have annual safeties on commercial vehicles.

turns out the new tank I have is a 38'er not a 33.
looks like ill be doing some fab work in the AM
