flex plate removal - how to hold crank?

Got the transmission/t-case away from the flex plate enough to start removal of the bolts. What's the best way to hold the crank stationary while I back off the bolts?

I stick a big screw driver between the block and the ring gear.

ended up setting a screw driver between the frame and alignment pin jammed between flex plate teeth.
