After I got the motor in and running great I could hear an exhaust leak and a rattleing sound at an almost coasting rpm. It sounded like something spinning and starts going thru critical rpm vibration. I was thinking it was the turbo because when the motor burned down after I lost all the coolant and the pyro was about 1100 degrees that maybe the bushings were damaged. Well the buzzing vibration was the rear turbo header-collector support bolt missing. The bracket was close enough to the turbo collecter housing that it would buzz at certain rpms and load. It was driving me nuts all along thinking maybe the turbo bushings or maybe the alt belt flop problem most trucks have. So thats taken care of. Now for the exhaust leak. I've changed out the entire exhaust system and now it 4 inch straight piped. So where was the exhaust leak you ask??? That bolt that was missing. The drilled and tapped hole in the cast iron manifold collector turbo mount Banks only item was drilled just a little too deep and if you look inside it there is a half moon cut into the open exhaust flow. So anybody remember I'm the member with all the really crappy luck with things going wrong that are just beyond belief.... Yea... Thats me and it kinda tickles now and just makes me smile....:D

Gary,

I think you need to put in a set of ear plugs and drive around for a couple weeks so you can relax and enjoy it without "hearing things" if for just a little while:D

Naw... Thats just being gay. I sometimes turn off the radio just to hear the sounds the truck and motor are making. I like the sound of horse power being made......:D :D

I have to drive around with my stereo off, and the back window open listening to things. I'm kinda paranoid since I put my rebuilt turbo back in.

I usually turn the radio up louder unless I hear something that is really worrisome like a bad tick or knock THEN I worry.

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
My rig is quiet, gets quieter as the years go by. I've never understood why I keep being told that if I'd get hearing aids I'd be down at the carlot by next morning trading trucks:eek:  :rotflmao :rotflmao
Somewhere I heard, or maybe read it on Google????or Reader's Digest????.....but Henery Ford invented the AM/FM Sterio 4Track/8Track Casset lasered Disc Surround Sound to put in his Model T's so new buyers wouldn't notice the rattles noise. Buck Rodgers didn't do it afterall!!:dunno Anything to this???
:rotflmao :rotflmao :rotflmao
