Is there a secret when it comes to putting diesel in your tanks? Everytime I fill my truck up it takes a long time. I have to hold the nozzel in the fill spout and can only open the nozzel half way.

I too have modified my filler necks in a similar fashion. I use the "big rig" pumps at the local fuel station. It takes less than 60 seconds for each tank and I don't spill a drop.

I cannot use "regular" automotive nozzles.......the seem sooo slow compaired to the large "big rig" type.

When I got tired of fuel puking out into my boots and onto the ground, I crawled under the truck, pulled off those plastic "roll-over" valves that are in the ends of the fuel-vent hoses, and threw them away, then I tucked the vent-hoses somewhere high and dry and zip-tied them in place.


Once those silly valves were gone, I could use the big-truck pump at full blast.


Actually, I am surprised that there are still a few of these old trucks around that haven't already had it done years ago.

I have my tanks connected with 1/2" hose cause my tank selector valve switches the supply lines just fine but has the return stuck on the front tank, now when the front tank fills up to the top it just starts overflowing in the rear - if I start off with an empty tank it does look like my truck is getting real bad fuel economy, while all it does is pumping fuel front the rear to the front tank. Another nice thing about the transfer/overflow hose is that if I wanna fill up quick all I gotta do is open both tanks, also for reasons unknown to me the rear tank filler actually does accommodate the big truck pump nozzle, front one don't tho.

previous owner took the flapper and restrictors out of the ones in the van..

MAN the big truck pumps are FAST...I like to use the autos so I can WATCH my money be stolen from me!!

I had a similar problem with an old truck...had a bad kink in the filler hose..my guess is there is an obstruction in yours...pull it and see..
