factory fuel/water separator

So when I bought my truck two years ago, the factory fuel/water separator was already disabled and probably had been so for many years.

I got to thinking the other day. Now that I'm running a holley red electric, I wont be pulling fuel through the old separator, I'll be pushing it through.
Any kind of leak issue will be obvious in a push through situation, so I hooked it back up and all is well.
I truned the key on to engage the pump and pulled the ring on top of the separator and a nice stream of fuel poured out the bottom of the truck, I let off, and the stream stopped.
So I guess for the moment, I can safely assume that the unit is working as it should?
Also, when I turn the key on, or to start, should the water in fuel light come on momentarily? Thanks.

Yes... That lite burning for a short time is telling you that the bulb actually isn't burned out. Now that was... A good ford idea.... Why did they stop there I'll never know....

Well, the little light doesnt come on.
When I crank the engine over, the engine temp light comes on but not the water in fuel. I'll have to take a look and see whats up with it.

Check and see if the wire is connected to the sender. Mine had fallen off till I squeezed the connecter with a pair of pliars. Funny how pliars wont work to well if you don't have a "pair" of them....
