Yes, latch remains untouched.

Instead the pin from the seat back gets replaced with on that is offset (bent into a zig zag as seen in the photo) downward to reach the latch from the higher position. The new pin bolts into the same location as the original and no new holes are needed.

Also note there is a brace that ties this side of the back rest base to the latch to re enforce everything.
