Exhaust Brake??

Digging around this '87 new-to-me IDI, I found a BD Exhaust Brake. I thought that IDI's weren't really meant for exhaust brakes, but that explains what the extra toggle on the dash went to! It's too dark to get a pic, but this is what it is. Should I keep this when I transfer the Turbo to the Crew Cab.. or is that a bad idea. I never pull a trailer so I don't see much use really. Opinions needed!

That is air operated, so some place you would have to have an air compressor, air tank and solenoids. If you don't need it sell it, those are expensive plus what it takes to set them up. Did you see the price? $900 +

It's Tee'd into the vacuum pump line, so I'm guessing it's a vacuum operated unit. (still air powered)

That should have come with heavier valve springs to install also. Originally.

Brain Fart, your right forgot about the vacuum operated ones. Now you can make it fart real loud, but not in the city, the revenuers are watching.

Na, that type of exhaust brake doesn't sound like a Jake, it just makes a loud hissing sound. You can really barely hear teh things
