I had the injector pump rebuilt two weeks ago and everything has been great, until today. I started it today and it's louder than hell! I took off down the road and black smoke was rolling out of the exhaust, and it seemed low on power. What the heck? (91 F250 7.3 IDI, E4od, 150k)

Yes, I've driven it every day and it ran great! I had the shop that built the pump put it on and all has been well since, until today. Tonight though, it seems to run fine. What can cause this at times?

hmmmm... the only thing i can think of is make sure u didnt have any blockage in the intake system, my dad had a 92 with an ats turbo that would suck all kinda stuff in the intake tube, like rags and such -cuss . once it even collapsed the plastic tube that runs to the top of the core support

Hmmmm, that sounds VERY firmiliar........Doesn't it Whitehorse!I had the same problem with the E just recently. The pump died.Would run great one time, then no power and more smoke than a steam locomotive on the 7 mile grade and couldn't pull a sick ***** outta bed, then it would run half and half, then back bad, then good....etc.Pretty much I just changed the pump but heard it was the Governor sticking which is pretty much terminal.I would suggest calling the people you bought the pump from and tell them your having issues.

Ok the truck really lunched this afternoon.

Lots of black smoke, really loud knocking noise, and over heating.

Please tell me this is the injector pump. The truck was running fine the past few weeks. It did this before I put 8 new injectors in. What gives? -cuss -cuss -cuss -cuss -cuss -cuss -cuss .

The truck has been running fine the last couple of weeks except for a loud chugging noise when it gets up to temperature which I believe to be an exhaust leak. My AAA membership just paid for itself today.
