Just wondering who knows of a good pump at a reasonable price? I'm sure if I need an IP or injectors or what. The truck was running great then lost power and died as fast as I could pull over to a safe place. It all happened fast, forgot my cell phone so I had to walk about 3 miles in 10 degree weather in just a t-shirt. -cuss

you don't have an injection pump could be a number of things fuses, cps fuel pump, relays are a few of the common easy things. Oh and make sure its full of oil thats what fires the injectors

He missed a comma.

The PSD's do not have in injection pump and injectors like the IDI's do. They run a HEUI injection system Hydraulically operated, Electricaly actuated, Unit Injector. A HPOP - High Pressure Oil Pump uses the engine lubrication oil, increased the pressure of the oil, and uses this high pressure oil to fire the injector, rather that fuel pressure in the IDI. On a full throttle accell, the oil pressure in the injectors can reach 4000psi.

The list he provided:
Fuses - A common issue on the 7.3 is the fuel heater, in the fuel bowl, can short, blowing the fuse. This fuse is also the same fuse that provides power to the PCM - Powertrain Control Module (computer) - no computer, no run

CPS - Cam Position Sensor - Exactally what it sounds like. It is a Hall Effect sensor that tells the computer where the cam is. If is fails it causes an no run, or a no start condition. They can also be marginal, and work some, and not some.......

Fuel Pump - Electric lift pump, on the frame rail I beleive. Can you hear it run, if not check the fuses and relays that run it......

Relays - I a relay falls that powers the PCM, Fuel Pump or other engine control electronics, that can shut the engine down.

Oil level - back the the HEUI system.... if the engine really low, there is not enough for the HPOP and the injectors do not fire. I also see this as somewhat of a "safety feature" If you loose alot of oil, the truck will shut down before you run the engine dry......

Thanks Scott I didn't feel like typing that all out since alot of it has been said in other threads unless he came back asking for specific help.

Not sure if it's a possibility, but my e99 went downhill really fast when the fuel filter got clogged up.

So.......I think it was a lift pump fuse. I checked all of them and the one that ran the lift pump was bad, replaced it and it now pumps. Now I think I have air in my lines. Can i just prime it by turning on (but not starting it) four times??

If you have the electric fuel pump just start KOKO key ON/OFF several times, pump only runs 20 seconds at a time until started, if not keep cranking 20 seconds with a 1 minute between cranks to get the air out. If you blow another fuse it maybe the Fuel heater in the fuel filter, unplug it. New updated heaters at IH dealer are $26.

Looks like its the lift pump. I keep blowing the 20 amp max fuse for the lift pump. What else could cause the fuse to pop, other then a short in the lift pump wireing??
