I bought the truck from an older guy at 210k, he had it since new and was **** about most oil changes. he said he put the transmission cooler on the day he brought the truck home(the things half the size of the condenser) other than that i didnt talk to him about it much he just told me it was getting old and about time to rebuild it...

So what shift kit do you guys recommend? is it the transgo tugger kit or another?

Trans Go Tugger or Sonnax Sure Cure.;Sweet Both are very good.

The Tugger kit is easier to adjust the shifts. Drill the holes bigger.:D

Sonnax you have to play with some shims and springs. Not a big deal.

Did you look at the GO HERE in my other post?

Yes, and I didnt really see anything on what kit he was using...

this is my shopping list as of now

shift kits?
heavy puller http://www.makcotransmissionparts.com/T36169E.html

tugger http://www.makcotransmissionparts.com/T36169EA.html

is the tugger kit that much better than the lower end one? as for rebuilding, do you guys usually replace steels too? I've never replaced steels in the past unless the clutches scarred them.

The Tugger kit will cover more issues with the E4OD. It's worth the extra
bucks.

Don't forget the bearings. They should be replaced.
You will need the steels too. Try to get the Kolene steels. They will take more abuse than the plain tumbled stuff.

If you get a rebuilt pump with a stock gray seal replace the seal with this. Precision (#16601EV) This will take the heat.

i've been slackin on this pretty bad, just dropped the transmission case off to get hot tanked and im waiting on a trust washer kit before i put it all together. ended up going with a transgo tugger kit, kolene seals, spiral o/d snap ring, half billet torque convertor, transtec gaskets and clutches, all new trust washers/bushings, and an upgraded center support. using most of my hard parts
