when does everyones tc lockup on your e4ods. mine does anywhere from 25 to 35 mph, depending on how hard i am using the go pedal. i just ordered a new fipl tonight, which hopefully will help. mine is gray, the motor is transplanted out of a 94 van, but it wouldnt surprise me if it was original. i checked idle and wot voltage, which were in spec. i didnt really check for dead spots, so maybe there are some.

IIRC, mine locks up around 35 - I have a Banks TransCommand, but I dunno if that makes any difference on the tc lockup.

I need to know what the idle and WOT voltage was. The higher you set it at idle the firmer and better shifts you will have but... At 1.2 to 1.3 volts is about the limit. Don't let the WOT voltage go over about 4.9 volts. The trans cpu will shut down around 5 or 6 volts and you will be in limp home mode. Second only starts and neck breaking shifts to third. They can hurt things too...

FIPL looks good, lock-up speed is dependant on throttle position and rpm. but speed matters to what gear ratio you got. 4:10s lock up sooner or slower speed vs 3:55 gears. mine will lock up around 25mph up to 35moh. in 2nd or 3rd and o/d locks up almost instantly. alot of people dont know the tcc locks in 2nd. most of the time this function makes me cringe expecially under heavy load with stock conv.

well thats good to know. i didnt think my tranny was acting right by locking up so quick. i should have asked the question first before ordering up a new fipl. oh, well..... at least i know it will be new.

nothin wrong with having a spare fipl laying around as they are pretty darn important for the e40d to shift correct. i keep a spare myself.

Wouldn't you like to know
Mine locks up around 30mph & it's pretty consistant. That's 4.10s & 31s. OD will go in between 35 & 45, I try not to let it shift in till about 45 though just to make it easier on the tranny.

at 35 on the dot is when i hit od all the time. so she locks up at about 30 and stays locked up if i stay in the throttle until i let up, or she shifts into od at like 50. yours seems just fine. but definatly keep the spare!!!

good, good, good. thanks for the info. now all i have to do is take care of the sluggish gear engagement. it takes several seconds going from park to drive or reverse.
