How do you check to see if they are good? I am not referencing the clutch surface, i am refering to the dual mass part? I just picked one up the the local yard and i want to make sure it is good before i do my tranny swap. If it is bad can they be rebuilt?

if you have more than 1/2" lock to lock freeplay, it's done.
no they are not rebuildable. resurfacing them isn't a good idea either. I learned that one the hard way.

Ya, I checked mine a while ago and it had 3/4" of play, after that it didn't last much longer, started to rattle at idle and throw springs. Love my new solid flywheel, no more jumpy truck or noisy shutdowns.
