I will be bringing home and 86 6.9 250 4 wheel drive with a 4 speed trans. I want to install the 6.9 engine and C6 auto out of my old 2 wheel drive 86 into the truck. What do I need to purchase to make my C6 auto work in the 4 wheel drive truck? Thanks.

Either a C6 4x tail shaft housing and shaft or a divorced Tcase but in all likelyhood the 4x version of C6 is better way to go..

If you were closer I would trade you my 4x4 C6 for your t19.

So it has to be a 4x4 C6? I thought maybe it was some kind of adapter that mounted to the back of the trans. My son will be driving this truck and needs to learn manual trans, either that or we'll go automatic.

The trans can be converted, but the whole thing has to come apart to convert it over from the front to the rear of the trans. It's a big job, which could be done if you were paying to have to rebuilt at the same time. I think your son can learn to drive a 4 speed. The diesel is very hard to stall out, so it's a good truck to learn on. A little car or truck with a manual tranny where you have to slip the clutch a little to get it going can be hard to learn with.
