Does this sound right?

Since I had my timing set(0* with lumi) I still feel the motor is knocking a bit much. Does this sound ok or should I retard the timing a bit?

Pretty hard to tell from a video, but if I had to guess I would say it does sound a bit advanced.

Do you know if the high idle and cold start advance are turning off after it warms up a bit.

What I noticed with mine is that when it was a little retarded it sounded a little clunky like and old Mercedes 300 or something whereas when it is a little advanced it sounds a bit like a Powerstroke. That sounds Powerstroky to me, but I've made videos of my exhaust and they don't exactly sound the same in real life, similiar but not timing diagnostic similiar.

I havent had mine checked with a meter yet, but yours does sound more advanced then mine.

If it runs, starts, and has good power let it be and see how you like it.

Yeah I can tell the cold advance shuts off, but I'm not sure if the high idle kicks off. When I first start it cold it will idle at 600rpm, then I tap the pedal and it goes to about 800rpm and stays there the rest of the day. The solenoid isn't contacting the throttle lever though so maybe I do need to turn the idle speed down a bit.

It starts and runs fine, I'm just worried about the long term effects if it is too far advanced. I guess I could retard it a bit and see what happens.

Maybe your throttle linkage is sticking causing the rpm deal. Are you running the stock lift pump? It sounds like you can here it in the video.

I have no idea where mine is set at the moment, but when I first installed the pump it had a lot of power but wouldnt rev up very quickly and idled much like yours, very harsh.

I backed the timing off a hair to where it had the same amount of power but ran smoother and revved much more quickly.

Its just loud, Ive had a couple that were loud like that and others that were quite.

Try retarding it just a bit and see how you like, Ive run my truck fairly advanced and never burned out any glow plugs. My last pump had to be advanced so far in order to allow the truck to run decently at all, and it still smoked white at idle. The pump I just got from solved all those problems and breathed new life into my truck.

Just to be sure you know, 1 degree is about 1/64".

I put a mark about 1/16" (4 degrees) on each side of static, and that makes it pretty easy to visualize one degree increments,

I've played with mine alot and I keep coming back to the point where the static marks are lined up, where's the fun it that.

My marks are lined up right now so at least if I do move it, it will be easy to get back to 0*.
