Does anyone by chance have an extra #1 injector line laying around? Mine cracked sometime this week and is pushing fuel up around top of injector! Thanks in advance!!
Welcome to the forum. As already posted. Your vibration line clamps are a MUST HAVE on every line or the fuel pulses from the injection pump will cause a vibration that eventually cracks the lines. Also on this injector you have the old no longer used timing adapter connected between the injector and the hard line. Are you for sure asking about the hard line on the passenger side first one from the front of the head by the fuel filter??? Please don't think I'm suspecting you have no idea what cylinders your referring to. You are a new member here and I do not know what your engine experience is..
Yes I'm sure it's from the injector line it is cracked around the flare. I was unaware that the spacer on top of the injector was a timing adapter. Can it be removed? Should it be? I just swapped to e fuel pump and deleted my mechanical. It's leaking also from my heater on filter housing but most noticeably from top of injector 1 fuel line right where fitting meets line it is pushing bubbles by. Truck is a tank just rolled over 100,000 last month and her age is starting to show.
If you remove the timing adapter you will need to use a 6.9 line, which didn't have that adapter. It can be deleted, as Gary said they are no longer used anyway. I have one here somewhere I can dig up if you would like.
So far my only reasons for removing this timing adapter is to stop possible leaks because you have one more connection or difficulty connecting the hard line to it. On my engine I usually have a horrible time threading the hard line to the adapter. I have even tried slight bends to the hard line. So I loosen the timing adapter and start the hard line nut on the loose adapter. then its tighten the adapter a little and then the hard line nut and so forth till its all tight. Also the number one line on any van engine application has the number one line without this adapter on it.. The vans put the adapter on the number 4 injector. NEVER try to shorten any of these lines where the adapter is required.
