The engine that a local guy has for sale here has one on it and when it was on another engine he said it worked well, it would be good to dyno before and after with one to see the curve change.

In California you can be pulled over and ticketed (I'm told, haven't verified) for excessive smoke (@#$^%*^ liberals) It's probably only a matter of time 'till it spreads elsewhere.
If it works ok...... well......Out of sight, out of mind??

:puke:......cookoo that's the same as the aneroid valve that was on my SD33T. it fed boost presssure to a fuel regulator and leaned the fuel curve till enough boost was present to allow full fuel. when you'd take the spring out the boost would spool up 2 times as fast and it'd help acceleration ALOT, but the EGTs would skyrocket in a hurry. so in a nutshell that's a BIG waste of time and money unless you're a tree hugging hippie who thinks smoke is bad don't get it.....:rotflmao:rolleyes:

Gary, you probably don't need it if you don't see lots of dark smoke before your turbo spools up, and even then tis still more a question of wanting it than needing it. If you ever got pulled over for excess smoke, then tis probably a good idea to have it. By the way back before the first fuel crisis in the '80s on the old big-rig Detroit Diesels that was the first thing the owner-operators would remove, usually right about at the time a set of marine injectors mysteriously found their way in the same engine ;)

You can get pulled over for too much smoke?? I lay a lot of smoke on occasion and have never seen or experienced such a thing.

Consider yourself lucky then. And if you're feeling adventurous, try to pull that stuff off in San Francisco ;)

Personally, I've always wondered why Stanadyne didn't put one of those things on the pump at the factory like Bosch did on most of their turbo diesel pumps. Obviously, someone at Hypermax was of the same mind. I got to speak with him last week on the phone as I wanted to find out about the thing to see if it functioned like the Bosch anaeroids, and yup, that's exactly what they do.

With an anaeroid, you can basically have the best of both worlds. you can have a hot pump with the fuel turned up, but when you stand on the pedal, you won't shove a bunch of unburnt fuel out the tailpipe, instead, it makes the pump wait until there is enough boost to go with the fuel to be able to actually burn it then it pours it on. This keeps you from bogging out on fuel and will actually give you better accelleration with a balanced mix.BAsically the way it would behave, even with a turned up pump, in a situation like getting on the freeway , anything below 3/4 throttle there would still be no to very little smoke, above that it would start to roll on very slightly and coming onto full throttle would be a steady stream, but it wouldn't be pumping clouds, because it would only be giving it the amount of fuel that it can actually burn in relation to the boost pressure

Should do wonders for fuel mileage

The thing is adjustable so you can set it to match your driving needs.
It would most likely not be suitable for someone who does weekend sled pulling and wants to just pour on the coals full tilt toilet flush
