Dana 70 front

So I have been working for a lady out in the country and she has some stuff around the property... Well, just so happens that there is a dana 70 front end I found and she said I'm more than welcome to have it but all the information on the forums are usually about d60 fronts.

The axle appears to be in excellent shape so I thought I could possibly use it in an axle swap. I'm going to take some pictures and post them on here so you guys can see what exactly it is. It has drum brakes buy the way... Also, I did look it up on dana's web site. According to them it came off a 1968.5- 1975 IHC 1-ton pickup. It is a low pinion on the passenger side, open 4.88 diff and 35 spline axles...

Again, not sure if this would be any good for me but if so then that would be a major score because those axles arn't cheep!!

i would not use that frt axle, pass side drop. you cant flip it to make it a high pinion drs side. and why would you want to move all your exhaust and switch your tranny crossmember around and all. to much work for an axle that is better off left in an IHI

annnddddd, have to change the transfer case for right instead of left drop----should be able to sell it to a durge or barf! chevy human---

Its a drum front therefore nobody wants it. I have a couple for a IH ive been building. Id let it sit, its way to heavy and once again has drums for it to be worth building. Altho i would buy the drums if they were any count.

A D70 with 4.88s, You will be able to find some one who wants it for sure.

Nobody wants that thing, seriously. I build rockcrawlers and i do lots with big axles. I have a couple of those things and i cant give them away. There a closed knuckle, low pinion super heavy piece. Very stout but just not worthwhile. Plus it has drum fronts. Parts are hard to find. Uses brass bushings instead of actual kingpin bearings.

If i recall correctly the gears are thicker or something than in a rear 70. Not positive on that but pretty sure.

Binderbulletin.org or maybe its binderbulletin.net. They may find a use for it there. Never hurts to try.
