Crack in windshield? Should I be looking for a cause?

Im not sure what caused it, its like a body flex crack. Directly in the line of sight of the driver, at the top of the windshield. Showed up today all of a sudden, and I dont know how. Havent gone through any ditches or anything stupid. Just a straight line crack about 4" long.
Oh, this is on my moms 94 CC.

When I bought my 87, it has a body flex crack on the passenger side. The PO told me that he had no idea why it happened. He said it just appeared while he was driving. After having a new windshield installed, I found that my radiator support bushing was completely gone, on the passenger side. It's really unbelievable how much the front end can flex, without that bushing. I haven't had the chance yet to install the new rad support and I hear some flexing from time to time..

I'd suggest that you check your rad support bushings asap..

Haha, good one.

I will check the body mounts and stuff, but this is a rust free Texas truck and its still rust free. Doesnt make sense how the radiator support would give out.

Yeah check the body mounts given it's a crew cab. Lots of weight for very few points of support.
Being a rust free truck, that rules out any type of structural fatigue along A and B pillars.

Another thing to check for is to grab a very sharp pencil and run it along the edge of the crack.If the pencil comes across a stop or any type of resistance, it's possible something did make contact with the windshield.

6.9 in a 94 CC? nice, the way it was meant to be

I had a crack that spread from a chip once. never spread until I washed the truck in sunlight almost a year later. The hot/cold shock sent the crack from the top all the way down. No amount of body flex or rough roads along the way seemed to affect the crack. The old fords (1996 or older) have VERY flexible frames and cab mounts that spread the load very well through out the truck. The cab is free to flex independant of the frame, so I think its unlikely that the crack was caused by body flex unless you have a structural problem.
