Couple Of Questions ???

- First) Will a 302 C6 bolt onto a 86 6.9.
- Second) I know a 7.3 is a bored 6.9, is their any difference between the 6.9 and 7.3 cylinder heads? Would the 7.3 flow any better?

I will from now on use this thread for my questions so i dont start millions of threads.

So i guess switching to a set of heads from a 7.3 wouldnt really help.

Would gasket matching get me any noticable gains ?

2- 7.3 is a bored out 6.9 BUT there are changes to the amount of material for the head bolt diameter increase is significant, as well as cooling passage differences. in short, everything that bolts onto the block and heads will interchange, the stuff that is internal to the block and heads are different.

Whats the opinions on the DPS Injectors. For $288 for the set for stage 1 injectors, it seems i cant go wrong. I cant afford Moose.

A set of BB injectors from either typ4 or agnem will work fine. They are much better than the turbo G code injectors. Most here will tell you that. The 6.9 and 7.3 motors share plenty of internal parts. The crank, rods, cam and oil pump are the same item. Even the part numbers are the same. Using 7.3 heads on a 6.9 has been done but.. Its not done all the time. I don't recall how they worked out. Read the Hall of Shame for more information on who to not buy from. Several members have plenty of comments there. As for the 7.3 being just a bored out 6.9..... Nope. Its a differant block but... Any parts that will bolt to the 6.9 will bolt to the 7.3. Thats everything you see when looking at the motor....

Another common mod is to add a Holly red pump (electric fuel pump) to ease with priming and bleeding air and such in the system, use a BB chevy block off plate for the factory pump in the block and reroute the lines as necessary.

They may be, depending on what you're running now and how many miles are on them. The DPS may (depends on if they even work when you get them or not) make more power at WOT but only by sacrificing driveability and mileage everywhere else. From most of the posts about them, you could probably do just as good of a job grinding them yourself.

there is one rule that never can be beat.
you will get what you pay for.
that being said, if you cannot afford moose injectors then the next best thing is a set of BB's that have been pressure balanced from Russ(typ4)

Truth be told, i have no idea what injectors i might have. The truck was recently on veggie oil and they put new stuff back in to go back to regular deisel.

New "stuff" as in injectors? Pull one and see what markings it has. You may have BB now, just no way to tell if they were new or rebuilds (may have a band that says they are).

I believe so. The guy couldnt afford to pay the shop for all the new **** so he turned the truck over to them and then this guy bought it. Its a 1986 long bed extended cab, 4x4, 6.9, C6 with a supposed 93,000 original miles. I might be getting it for 3K or maybe less.
