Im not wanting to Rod this truck but anywhere I can pull a little more performance out of it when needed would be nice. Mainly I'm looking into the reported increase in fuel economy I've read about, and with any luck added longevity of the pump being built by "DA MAN". ;Sweet
I'd like to eventually figure out how to incorporate an intercooler on this truck no matter what I do, but not likely for a while.
My engine build will be a '83 6.9, '83 6.9 low compression heads, ARP head studs, 088 ATS turbocharger, 3" to 4" straight exhaust, and BB code injectors. The pump I'd be sending in would be a NOS 7.3 N/A pump, so there wouldnt be any wear parts that would need replaced.
I guess it really depends on the money I have left after getting the engine and ZF5 in there. But with BB injectors, and my driving style would I be just wasting my money?

I don't think you are wasting money by buying quality from someone you trust will do the job right and back up his work. Also, even though you don't plan to use the power available, it's nice to know you can.... and you probably will on occassion.

You really don't need to ask about that... He will stand behind what he sells.... I'm thinking its 1 year but I really can't remember for sure. It may be 2 years....:dunno I just don't remember what it was. You wont be needing it anyway....

You'd be crazy NOT to put a moose pump on there. From the sounds of it, his customer service can't be beat. It's good for EGT's too. If you're going to add a turbo, studs, and possibly an intercooler, then you might as well throw on a pump to match.

6 mos warranty - its a good pump though, just finished putting one on a 93 with dps injectors about an hour ago and it scoots right along - even though I haven't had any luck tuning that truck to surpass 10lbs of boost. My dually puts out 13 with a stock pump, but something about the turbo in that 93 just won't do it - the 93 w/moose is faster than the dually, even with 3 lbs less.

By charge air cooler, or air charge cooler, you mean an intercooler correct? lol So many different names for the same thing.
I would love to, but if I can pull it off the moose pump would for sure wipe out any of the remaining budget I have for this project.
Mel's helped me so much throughout the last couple years I'd love to buy one of his infamous moose pumps.
I already have like $250 in the New old stock IP, Mel said I'd probably be looking at atleast another $500 to convert it to the moose pump.

I have access to allot of scrapped Mack semi trucks, and one Peterbuilt. Is it even logical to look into possibly grabbing one of those intercoolers and all the plumbing for my truck? I could probably get an entire system, couplers and all, for like $100. Its been a long time since I've looked at one, they may be HUGE, I cant remember.

FSR7, what are the EGT's on each truck? The timing and EGT's make a very noticeable difference. 13 psi isn't going to be any better than 10 psi if you're creating more heat than a nuclear reactor. I'd wager to say the 10 psi rig has cooler temps, so it provides more useable air. I've heard said somewhere that boost over about 10 lbs is useless without an IC.

Negative, those are way to big. Go find a diesel performance shop and see what they got laying around. Odds are some guy with a PSD upgraded his intercooler and his stock intercooler/piping is laying around. You could probably pick it up for a good $100 as well if your lucky ;Sweet

The timing on each truck is by ear at the moment, so... I've adjusted each truck probably 8+ times, they are each set as powerfull as I can get them for now, but I know that the timing aspect is still a grey area in my comparison. However, the egt's in the 93 climb considerably faster in the 93 than the dually, and will stay higher as well - I really have to stay in the go pedal through half of forth gear in the dually before I get to 1200*, whereas the 93 will hit 1300* before the end of third. I know I will get ridiculed for running those type of egts, but- The motor that is in the dually now had 280k n/a miles before I threw it in there with a turbo - It's got 40k turboed miles since that swap, and I hit 1200*+ on a daily basis. These IDI's are real durable, and I love making them work hard LOL

How do people get such high EGT's? Am I running to advanced or what? Cause I struggle to see 1100* and I have a constant hint of black smoke when WOT with 8psi of boost.
