there's a block stud girdle available for the 6.5, but I haven't had the customer who wants to step up and pay to be the first lab rat.
The other thing that the 6.5 has going for it is that since the military has deep pockets, there's still developmental work on the motor. Back in '00, they finally came out with piston cooling jets(which the IH already has), and this year, forged cranks are now available too(IH has that too). Oh yea, there was a improved cooling system retrofit back in '97 that is for the later serpentine setup. Turbo is also improved building up hp to 250(no big deal in today's diesels). Still, you get the idea. GM is slowly trying to improve the motor while the IH idi has been a dead animal since '94....but...all the work that could be done has been done already unlike the GM unit.
