i recently mentioned that i was having problems with cranking and finally concluded it had to be the starter since everything else checked out ok. I have had good luck and good service from DB electrical in TN so i bought one of denso "style" starters and put it on. That thing cranks really, really fast compared to the autozone mitsubishi one - so now i know it was the starter. I will get them to give me another one since the old one had a lifetime warranty and keep it as a spare - but on the whole i would say those things are no good since it was less than a year old and not abused.
anyway, that third bolt on the denso style was even harder than on the old one to tighten. i tried every combo of sockets and extensions i have and it was just impossible to get a really hard crank on it like i did the other two. I got it on there snug but i think it needs a little more. How do others deal with that? it's just so hard to get the socket on there perfectly square so i can tighten without stripping it.
BTW if this one does not last beyond the 1 year warrantly i will probably spend the money on a real denso. Anyone know the best place to get them and how much they cost?
thanks,
Paul
