Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like it is either a temp sender or a boost line fitting. Yes you can put a boost gauge there.

It looks like someone lost the Banks supplied plug for the intake hat. They put what looks like an old 7.3 IDI glow plug in it's place.:dunno At least that's what it looks like.

That threaded hole is there for the boost gauge's plumbing. Not sure why it would be taken out/off.

On Edit: Here is a photo of the plug before I installed the boost gauge.

Yes, thats exactly what that port is for. Its a 1/8th inch pipe thread. Home Deopt has the fitting too.

not that cold...im in south central PA....i think it was the former owners attempt or even the diesel shop that put the turbo on at closing the hole after they lost the brass plug like hesutton said...

now my goal is to find a cheap boost gauge and make myself some sort of dual gauge piller setup so its next to my egt gauge

If it was a shop and they didn't have a 1/8" pipe plug, or access to one, I sure the heck wouldn't want them working on anything for me!

i dont know who did it as it was there when i got the truck....i got one guy that i will take my stuff to and he is a good mechanic and knows the ford diesels well...

i doubt it was the shop that put the turbo on though....they are known to be a good shop for the area. im thinkin it was the shop the guy had it stored at that did the last inspection that did this..

its all good now...its got a gauge line commin out there now
