Sorry guys, I know this isn’t a bus forum but thought you guys might be able to help. I just bought a 1987 crown school bus with a 671 Detroit turbo and spicer non synchro 5 speed. Drove it home to Vegas from Cali last weekend and it ran great.
I know zero about clutches and adjusting but the clutch in this thing is like an on off switch, like no in between starting to engage and fully engaged. Is that adjustable on a clutch? It makes dead throttle takeoffs kinda tricky. My wife is training my kids to shift and drive it and they’re having a Hellava time not killing it on take off. Thanks!

1600 rpm when on the road switching between gears, no lower. Had to look for the sweet spot.
Starting off may take some heavy exercises for the left leg. 1 legged squats is what I did when driving old church MCI bus. If you missed a shift or didn't make it to next gear, you pulled over to side of road, let traffic pass and started over. No synchros were a killer but the bus never was stolen.

Maybe this will help: YouTube Big truck clutch adjustments
