My 1990 F350 clutch was engaging about 1 inch from floor, had to turn engine off and start in 1st or reverse. I replaced Clutch Master and slave cylinders, it’s still doing it……is this a pressure plate problem or?………

Have you had someone watch the firewall while you're actuating the clutch? Firewall flex was a common problem that will cause this issue and there are reinforcement plates available if that's the issue you're having.

An issue I've had in the past is the two little tangs that hold the release lever in place got widened up and slipped off the pivot pin, causing something similar. Could also be the pivot pin is worn down.

I would check the bushings in your pedal assembly as well. They wear out and you have a lot of pedal movement/slack before anything actually presses on the clutch master cylinder.

That's where I'm putting my money! Not that the other stuff ain't legit, I just think the wore out bushing theory is MORE legit.

yep, similar to what was said
1. The clutch pivot bushing the connects to the pushrod. If it’s this then do the heim joint upgrade
2. The box bushings
3. Rusted firewall flexing
4. The cylinders

That’s my most to least likely ranking

And don't leave us hanging, we want to know what happens.
