Wow, had this thread come up before I did my rebuild, I might not have taken this on LOL. Bein in highschool is extremely hard to pay for all this so consider yourself lucky you have a consistent job to back yourself up on.

Sean, don't let that bad temper of yours get the better of you. LISTEN to what everybody is telling you. Your worrying over nothing, and you have NO FACTS yet.

You need to

A) - Get the injectors tested
B) - Do a compression test

In the overall scheme of things, this is cake compared to what you have been through. Focus on A and B, and stop worrying about everything else.

exactly agnem just take baby steps to solve the problem man ok for example I have a 1999 mercury mountaineer(same as ford explorer). ok so Its my daily driver and

1. It was getting very bad gas mileage for a v6 4x4 6 or 7 miles to the gallon but ran great

2.how to fix it without spendin a ton of cash my a mechanic

so I was pissed to the point of no return and yeah spending 30 bucks a day basically well I got pissed so bad I smashed my window with my fist. because one day it wouldnt start lol sry very very short fuse but anyway... I found out four problems 3 were little vaccum lines to my egr intake plenum crank vent yeah I know but trust me and the last is a part costing me 30.00 and its gonna take my truck for 2 days tops so it was the intake gaskets lower and upper yeah and I paid 45 dollars for my window But......

the point is man seriously I had to take baby steps and ull find the problem just dont spend money where you don't have too

Well, I was feeling a little better today and decided since the weather was the nicest its going to be for a while I'd go atleast pull the glow plugs. The rear cylinder on the drivers side, the one we discovered had no effect on the idle quality when fuel was cut to it, was soaked in fuel. The cylinder on the passenger side with the injector that had the return cap pop off, the same one with the "valve train noise", has so much fuel sitting in it that I an actually see fuel sitting in the precup chamber through the glow plug hole!

Got me thinking, I wonder if that cylinder that was full of fuel, the one with the noise, if it's making that noise because of hydrolock? That would be great. Bent rod for sure.

But why would a brand new motor hydrolock? Mine had hydrolocked when I bought it, but the old man said the odometer has has flipped more than three times(300,000+ miles).

Sean:

Just a thought here: Don't you have like 4 IDI trucks at your place? Can you rob 2 known good injectors off another running truck and stick 'em in the Brown truck as a bit of diagnosis?

I would but all of them are being driven. I've been trying to think of any extra injectors that I have that could be good enough to test with.
