Lack of an update yet again.
Here's pics from the last 2 or 3 days.

I installed a new old stock Ford oil pump and pickup tube just for the heck of it since I had it. My old pump had a little bit of grooving starting on the backing plate so I figured what the hey. The only thing that bothered me about this new pump was that I could wiggle the gear back and forth a little bit because there was a little preload in the pump shafts. Hopefully it works well for me.

It's been kinda slow and its my own fault because I'm just too **** about how clean the parts are before I put them in the engine. Had I not cared as much about double and triple cleaning everything I'd have had it done days ago. Oh well.

I test fitted my turbo onto the motor this afternoon and was very disappointed to discover that the intake spacer my brother made me needs some modification. I will need to hog out an area of the spacer and weld a bubble or something into it so it gives the compressor housing enough room. I was really hoping to get this thing into the truck this weekend but its not looking good already.

Worked pretty darn good if ya ask me. lol
I've been masking and painting stuff since before I was even out of elementary school. I remember I used to love how the paint smelled... roflmao

I was hoping to get it completely buttoned up and ready to install today but got side tracked with some issues my brother and dad were having with my 1356 transfer case... Lets just say I'll be using a different one and not because of them.

MOOSE PUMP is installed though!

Mine says "void" all over it now. Seems to be some sort of stupid tamper proof feature.

Seems like yours didn't. Maybe its a canadian thing

SWS, the extra thing on the oil fill is the port for my crank case evac tube that will run into my exhaust pipe. I don't care for the CDR system in these motors.

David, mine doesnt say Void on it anywhere. Actually thats the second sticker that was on that valve cover. The first one was the higher HP sticker, this one was under the other one and since it doesn't mean much other than the correct RPM and timing is listed I figured it didn't matter much so I scrapped the nasty looking top one off and this one was what was under it.

you should paint that water pump cause usaully they rust if you dont

I'll be painting the water pump just hadn't gotten around to it yet after I installed it.
After seeing what my 1356 was like, sure makes me super confident about my ZF5 that came out of the same truck...

ENGINE IS DONE!

WOOOHOOO! Finally finished assembling the engine. All the wiring and return lines are on and finally got around to installing the rear main wear sleeve and seal. I hope I used enough copper RTV on everything.
Also got the ceramic coated exhaust manifolds on.

One thing bothered me though. Out of everything in this engine build the one thing that made me nervous was the rear main seal and I went off and screwed it up. I have a rotunda tool set for these engines and included is a front and rear main seal installation tool. Instructions read to press the rear seal in until the tool seats against the retaining plate. BS! I did that and it pressed it in so far the rear lip of the seal didn't come even close to touching the crank. I used that plastic tool that was included in the seal kit and beat that sucker back as far as it would go. The lip of the seal did actually stretch out over the sleeve but I still dont think its right. I just hope its enough that it doesn't cause me any problems.

Brimmstone, UPS wanted to take everything if I went through with the claim. I argued with the guy for a good 30 minutes over it. It all went WAY down hill when he grabbed the box of stuff and started dragging it off. I shoved him away from it and told him to get the f%&# out of my sight. I must say I've never had to deal with that big of an ***** before.
I figure the IC fits around the radiator like I intended it to and it holds 30psi without any leaks that I could tell so I'm just going to use it as is.

As long as there is not a groove in the crank where the seal fits, you should be golden with your rear seal there.

You need to be very careful as he might use that to press assault charges. Most ups drivers I know are looking for the easy money. I know a couple who are honest hard working people but not many I have met are.
