Bronco IDI conversion

Anyone ever done one?

I am thinking about looking for one, and converting to an IDI. I'd prefer a Zf 5speed, 3.50 gears and I'd like to keep the 1/2 ton axles. Not looking for a serious off road rig or anything like that, just a nice 19mpg diesel full size suv.

Any thoughts?

mel did it. also broncotom. but his is on 1 tons and a dually.

I read somewhere that Ford did it to, they made three of them to test the TTB suspension, I do believe that i read it on here.

Am I correct in assuming that the 460 gas and the IDI are about the same weight?

I been workin on it for several years....*****....hope this year...thought it would be last year....but I am working on a bad A#$ build with 1ton running gear and big lift, so kinda takes while.

ya its easy youll need a donor truck though
you need the motor mount plates from the donor they bolt in with 2 bolts per side and the other 2 will need driller out then wiring is easy you can leave efi stuff but youll get a check engine light is all
