Hello everyone. I recently bought a 89 F350. After stepping on the brake pedal, the pedal returns very slowly to the normal position?

Sounds like your vacuum booster or master cylinder has a problem.

Yep, there are two springs in the assembly - the one in the master cylinder, and the one in the booster. The booster spring alone will easily return the pedal but will not pull the m/c pistons back and release the brakes, and the m/c spring alone will push m/c pistons back and will push the booster rod back and will lift the pedal, but pretty slow. I'd look at the booster first...

Thanks for the help. I forgot to metion I did replace the M/C and the booster looks fairly new. If I disconnect the vacuum line to the booster the pedal returns quickly. Also returns quickly with the engine off.
