I've done an extensive search on this subject but everything was scattered. id like to have all the info compiled into one thread.

i want to make my own intake system. i have seen styles that route to the radiator support, cowl area, passenger side behind the battery and ghost tube. my question...what are the Pro/Cons of each? and which is best for a diff. application?

i hope this isnt to broad of a topic or im asking to much. ;Sweet

Anyone?

i seen Hypermax offers a cowl induction intake, but wouldnt that let in water when it rains?

What about running a larger diameter ducting to the radiator support like the 300/460 EFI trucks?

what about running it on the passenger side behind the battery?

what about the "ghost" tube" or TBI style hat and intake (open element filter)?

Ram air deflector from behind the grill up to a big fiberglass scoop- only cut plastic. More pics in my gallery on the FTE pre power stroke forum KJLYPW.

Ghost Tube as requested...

...It's actually an open element filter system by air raid that fits 2001 dodge p/u with 318.

Was the black piece that screws onto the manifold fabricated by you, or part of the Airaid kit?

Added a second "snorkle" to the stock air breather assembly

Installed scoops in both the turn signal openings

Plumbed the scoops into the wheelwells & up through the fender liners into the engine bay

And attached the plumbing to the dual snorkles using stock intake tubes

Links are dead for me to. To ensure the longevitiy of the tech article, it would be best to include the pictures as attachements. Just remember not to delete them from your account later!

Excuse the crappy cell phone pic, it was the only thing I had on me while I was loading hay last night.

I was looking at my cowl area by the wiper motor and such, i dont understand how hypermax's kit works. i dont have any room anywhere on the cowl to locate the air intake kit...my vacuum booster is HUGE (compared to my F-150s).

i like the intake Zigg posted with the stove pipe...i may go with that style.

So, what was the verdict, on the ghost tube setup, the bowl that bolts to the intake, where is that found at? Who makes it, and who carries it?

Thanks.
