Best starter?

For lubrication where the shaft is supported. As far as nose cone/bendix/drive area is concerned I think a supported shaft is superior to unsupported, but if the shaft is long and supported well before the gear and at the end with good bearings or bushings it's obviously fine in many applications. There's a lot of force trying to push that starter away from the flywheel, I can imagine if it got dry it could get chewwed up and have slop in it causing further damage... Hence a zerk. Of course inside the bellhousing it's not something that gets serviced often. I don't know many people who pull their starter every oil change to grease it, we tend to stick to the readily accessible steering and ujoint zerks.

I had my starter out to change out the leaking and useless block heater.I saw the zerk and shot it with fresh grease before I put the starter back in
