Battery to alternator wiring

I dont know if it was stock, assume it was since it looked stock, but on my truck the alternator power went to the starter solenoid then to the battery. Would it be better since i did the 3G upgrade to run the alt power wire to the battery, then run another wire from the battery to the starter solenoid? Or wouldnt it matter. Kinda short on room at the starter solenoid, wondering i can eliminate an extra wire.

Me neither. I dont see the need to run it through the SS and to the battery, seems its just another place for a problem to be.

I would run a charge wire straight to the battery. You'll still need a wire to the starter sol to power the rest of the truck. (you are talking about the fender mounted one, right?)

Thats what I did when I did the 3G upgrade. 4 gauge charging wire from alternator to battery, then another 4 gauge wire from the battery to the relay, no problems with that setup.
